man escapes wildfire in spain

Wildfire sparked by Spain’s extreme heatwave have yet to be put out in many areas. Angel Martin Arjona was caught in the middle of the fire after digging a trench to keep the flames from spreading to his town in Tabara, Zamora state in the country’s northwest. Arjona, who was trying to escape the flames with his work machine, eventually got out of the vehicle and managed to escape the flames. Arjona was taken to the hospital with severe burns on his body.

A passenger train was caught in the flames in Zamora, where violent fires were still raging. The sight of flames on both sides of the train caused widespread panic. One of the passengers, Francisco Seoane, told the Spanish press that the fire spread quickly and that the surrounding bushes caught fire. “It was only a matter of time before the fire spread. It suddenly got dark. We could even smell the smoke inside the wagon,” Seoane said.

Furthermore, a 69-year-old shepherd and a 62-year-old firefighter died in the flames within 2 days, reports stated.
