Man Rescued at Sea After Homemade Boat Mishap in Thailand

In Pattaya, Thailand, a homeless man known as “Uncle Somkiat” embarked on a journey to Ko Lan Island using a boat made from plastic bottles. However, he encountered trouble when strong winds and currents caused his makeshift vessel to drift aimlessly. Alerted by a passing speedboat, the coast guard swiftly intervened and rescued the stranded man, who was found approximately 2.4 kilometers from the shore. While the man was safely brought aboard the coast guard vessel, his plastic bottle boat was towed back to shore. “Uncle Somkiat,” who earns his livelihood by collecting plastic, recounted how he set out early in the morning but lost control of his boat later in the day due to adverse weather conditions.
