A man set a book on fire and ignited a carpet inside Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque on July 11th. The suspect, who entered the mosque around 11:30 PM wearing a red hat, was seen on security cameras burning the book and attempting to leave. A woman noticed the fire, and the imam quickly extinguished it before it spread. Police later apprehended the man, who had a history of mental health issues. He was arrested and sent to prison after a police investigation.
