Massive Blaze Ravages Rohingya Refugee Camp in Cox’s Bazar

Last night, a devastating fire erupted in Cox’s Bazar’s camp number 5, home to over 1 million Rohingya Muslims who fled Myanmar’s military actions in 2017. The flames swiftly engulfed around 800 homes, rendering approximately 7,000 Rohingya homeless before authorities managed to contain the blaze roughly three hours later, around 01:00 local time.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported damage to nearly 120 structures, including mosques and health centers. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
