A fire broke out at a factory owned by Hankook Tire, the country’s leading tire manufacturer, in Daejeon, South Korea, at around 22:10 local time yesterday. Ten workers and a firefighter were taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. Residents of the surrounding apartments were evacuated as a precaution.
The massive fire, in which more than 400 firefighters intervened, was brought under control after 10 hours of work. It has been reported that 400,000 tires in the factory turned into ashes.
A detailed investigation was initiated to determine the cause of the fire.
