May Snow Transforms Bolu’s Plateaus

Türkiye’s picturesque Bolu province is experiencing an unexpected return to winter, with unseasonal May snowfall blanketing the famous Sarıalan Plateau. The sudden freeze has transformed the area’s winding river meanders into a stunning, postcard-perfect landscape that is currently drawing in photographers and nature lovers alike. Formed by the convergence of 14 different high-altitude meadows, Sarıalan is already renowned for its natural beauty, making this rare spring snow an unforgettable visual feast. As one visiting nature enthusiast from nearby Kocaeli remarked, while seeing snow in May is certainly a surprise, a white winter blanket simply suits Bolu.
