Medieval Tower Collapses in Rome, Injuring Three Workers

Part of the 13th-century Torre dei Conti Tower near the Colosseum in Rome collapsed during restoration work, injuring three workers and trapping one under the rubble. Rescue teams are working to free the trapped worker, though authorities warn of a risk of further collapse.

Built by Pope Innocent III for his family, the tower is undergoing a four-year restoration project set for completion next year. Local officials said the structure remains standing but has suffered serious internal damage.
