Meloni government receives first vote of confidence in Italy

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and his 24 ministers who formed the new government passed the first test by receiving 235 “Yes” votes against 154 “No” votes in the vote of confidence held with the participation of 389 deputies in the 400-seat lower house of the Parliament, the Chamber of Deputies.

The government will now try to get a vote of confidence from the upper house of the parliament, the Senate.
