Merapi Volcano Erupts on Java Island, Indonesia

An eruption took place at Indonesia’s Merapi Volcano on Java Island, reaching a height of 2,963 meters. The explosion occurred at 08:00 local time, ejecting ash and smoke up to 1.5 kilometers high. Seven villages in the Magelang region were covered in ash, but no evacuation orders were issued for residents in the area.
