The Popocatepetl Volcano in Mexico was monitored by cameras that captured the sight of a meteorite entering the atmosphere and quickly flashing out. The volcano has experienced increased activity recently, with 182 gas and ash emissions reported in the past 24 hours and a total of 162 eruptions recorded this year, including two on March 1. Having already recorded 113 eruptions in 2022 and ongoing heightened activity for over a year, Popocatepetl ranks fifth among volcanoes expected to have a major eruption in the coming years, as per University of Manchester scientists.
