mexico fire causes air pollution

Efforts to extinguish the fire that started on Wednesday in the Primavera Forest in the Mexican state of Jalisco continue. The smoke that reached the nearby city of Guadalajara has caused serious air pollution.

The Jalisco State Department of Environment and Regional Development has declared an atmospheric emergency in 34 neighborhoods in the Guadalajara metropolitan area due to the pollution. Citizens were advised to avoid outdoor activities, to keep the windows in their homes closed, and not to drive a motor vehicle unless necessary.
