Authorities stated that the Popocatepetl volcano has erupted 6 times, with two emerging on yesterday morning. Mexico’s National Center for Prevention of Disasters reported that the volcano vented smoke and gas 70 times and caused 3 minor earthquakes in last 24 hours.
The dust and ashes that emerged during the eruptions is expected to cover Morelos after Atlixco in Puebla. Authorities advised residents to take precaution and stay away from the volcano.
According to research of Manchester University, Popocatepetl is the 5th volcano amongst the volcanos that are expected to erupt severely in the next couple of years. The latest eruptions of the volcano were recorded on August 30th, September 3rd, September 6th and September 8th.
