The Popocatepetl Volcano has erupted 3 more times in the past day, increasing the number of eruptions this month to 57, according to Mexico’s National Center for Prevention of Disasters (CENAPRED). Officials announced that Popocatepetl Volcano, where an eruption has been recorded nearly every day in the past few days, lava activity will continue with moderate intensity and warned the locals to be alert for possible ashfall and stones that may fall.
Experts from the Institute of Geophysics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) participated in a research flight. Despite the recent intense activity, it was observed that the volcano’s crater had not significantly changed. On the basis of measurements made from the air, the crater’s depth was estimated to be between 160 and 180 meters, and its diameter to be between 390 and 410 meters.
