military forces detain government officials in sudan, protests take to streets in capital

Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and 4 ministers were detained by military forces. Hamdok is reportedly under arrest in unknown location. It was reported that internet access is not provided in the capital Khartoum. Hundreds of people started protesting in the streets after the disappearance of Prime Minister Hamdok, burning tires and closing the roads to traffic. The airport in the city has been closed to international flights.

In Sudan, after former President Omar al-Bashir was sacked in August 2019, the country was run by the Forces of Freedom and Change, made up of military and civilian.
