The pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, Mecca has returned to normal figures before 2019 after two years of limited opportunities due to the pandemic. Türkiye’s fixed pilgrimage quota of 83,430 was increased by an additional 5,000 visas this year, resulting in a total of 88,430 pilgrims organized by the Presidency of Religious Affairs. Turkish citizens, including butchers and technical personnel, have obtained visas for the pilgrimage in significant numbers.
The pilgrimage has brought excitement and fulfillment to Muslims from various countries. The cost of the pilgrimage has also increased due to economic distress globally, resulting in higher prices for hotels and services in Saudi Arabia. The age profile of the pilgrims has shifted since the removal of the 65-year-old age limit imposed in the past two years.
