More than 7,000 hectares turns to ash in Chile

Due to the heat wave in the South American country of Chile, forest fires broke out at 18 different points. More than 7,000 hectares of land have turned to ash so far.

About 40 houses were evacuated and 12 houses became unusable in the Valparaiso region.

The fire that broke out yesterday in the Curacavi town in the Santiago metropolitan region, wasted more than 1,700 hectares of land, covering the sky in the capital, with smoke. A “public health alert” has been issued for the 6 million in the city.

According to the official meteorological service, the highest temperature of this year was recorded in Santiago on Thursday as 36.7 degrees Celsius. The temperature is also the third-highest temperature the city has faced in 111 years.
