Mother-Daughter Duo Rivals In Türkiye Elections

In the upcoming local elections on March 31 in Turkey, 63-year-old Kadriye Mıcık and her 39-year-old daughter Serap Emici, both residing in Saraçlar District, Kastamonu city center, have become candidates. Interestingly, they are running for the same neighborhood and have become rivals in the electoral race. Engaging in door-to-door campaigning, they distribute brochures outlining their projects and seek votes from the 16,000 voters in the district. Adding a unique touch to her campaign, Kadriye Mıcık, the mother, brings her knitting along, challenging stereotypes that suggest she should stay at home. The mother-daughter duo manages their campaigns independently, keeping their campaign destinations a secret from each other.
