University student and mother of two, Aycan Canan, challenges gender norms by entering the headmanship race in her village, Karlı, located in Hakkari’s Yüksekova district in southeastern Türkiye. Competing against six male candidates, Canan navigates challenging terrains, visiting nearly a thousand households to seek support. Confident and assertive, she emphasizes her commitment to providing service-oriented leadership. Canan acknowledges strong backing from women and young people in the village, pledging to address deficiencies and deliver the best services if elected. The candidate expresses gratitude for the support of her husband and vows to represent the village effectively. The elections are scheduled for March 31.
