Danelo Cavalcante, a Brazilian murderer who escaped from a Pennsylvania prison last August, has been captured by security forces after a two-week manhunt. The operation involved a helicopter, but bad weather temporarily halted it. Cavalcante was caught when conditions improved, and he was found armed with a stolen rifle. He resisted arrest and was slightly injured by a police dog. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro noted that his capture was inevitable. Cavalcante will face charges related to escaping serious punishment and will be brought to court.
Cavalcante was sentenced to life in prison in Pennsylvania last August for stabbing his ex-girlfriend Deborah Brandao to death in front of her children in 2021.
