Muslim NYPD Officers Hold Iftar, Honor Turkish Police Officers

Muslim officers of the New York Police Department (NYPD) gathered for a traditional iftar event, organized by the New York Muslim Police Department (MOS). The event saw the participation of around 800 attendees, including officers, their families, community leaders, and diplomats. Türkiye’s Consul General in New York, Muhittin Ahmet Yazal, was among the guests of honor.

The evening began with Quran recitation and prayers, followed by a communal fast-breaking. MOS President Waheed Akhter emphasized the event’s role in fostering unity among different communities.

Following the iftar, awards were presented to six Turks, including five Turkish-origin NYPD officers, in recognition of their service.
