Napoleon’s Bicorne Hat Sold for €1.9 Million

A bicorne hat that former French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte owned during his rule in the 19th century was put up for auction at the Osenat Auction House in Paris, the capital of France. It was purchased by an anonymous buyer for 1.9 million euros.

“People would recognize this hat everywhere. They knew Napoleon was there when they saw it on the battlefields. In his private life, he would either put on the hat or carry it in his hand, and sometimes throw it on the ground. It was an image, the symbol of the emperor,” said Auctioneer Jean Pierre Osenat
