NASA shares Photo of Istanbul taken from space

American National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), posted a photo of Istanbul on its Instagram account which is taken from the International Space Station (ISS). In the photo shared with noted that: “Hey Istanbul, you are shining!”

The photo included the following statements:

Hey İstanbul. You shine!

Take a look at the night lights of one of the cities of Turkey divided by the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn! This image was taken on May 10, 2021, from the International Space Station in orbit 263 miles above the Black Sea.

Fun fact: These images aren’t just for aesthetic purposes. We use them for science too! The photographs record how the planet has changed over time, from anthropogenic changes such as urban growth and reservoir construction to naturally dynamic events such as hurricanes, floods and volcanic eruptions”
