National Mourning Declared for Turkish Hotel Fire Victims

 

Türkiye observes a one-day national mourning for the victims of the Bolu Kartalkaya hotel fire, which claimed 76 lives and injured 51. Flags were lowered to half-staff across the country, including at iconic locations like Taksim Square of Istanbul.

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç confirmed the assignment of six chief prosecutors and a five-member expert committee to investigate the incident. Nine individuals, including the hotel owner, have been detained as part of the ongoing inquiry.
