NATO countries sign accession protocol for Sweden, Finland

After Sweden and Finland were invited to NATO, the representatives of the two countries signed the NATO membership accession protocols at NATO Headquarters in Belgium. After the signing of the protocol, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the approval process for Finland and Sweden’s NATO membership has begun.

At the NATO Heads of State and Government Meeting held in Madrid on 29-30 June, Turkey had lifted the objection of Sweden and Finland against NATO membership with the signed memorandum.
