NATO’s Stoltenberg Backs Israel’s Right to Self-Defense

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has voiced support for Israel’s right to self-defense against Hamas attacks and announced that Belgium and Denmark will supply F-16 warplanes to Ukraine. During the NATO Defense Ministers meeting in Brussels, Stoltenberg expressed solidarity with Ukraine and noted increasing threats to its infrastructure by Russia.

Several NATO member countries pledged assistance to Ukraine, including military equipment, winter clothing, and financial support. Stoltenberg highlighted NATO’s decision to remove the Membership Action Plan requirement for Ukraine, bringing it closer to NATO, and discussed the priorities for Ukraine’s NATO membership.

NATO commended Ukraine’s ongoing fight against corruption despite Russia’s attacks and promised increased support to help Ukraine face another challenging winter.

Stoltenberg also commented on the situation in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of preventing any entity hostile to Israel from exploiting the situation. Additionally, he expressed expectations for Sweden’s NATO membership process to proceed as previously agreed upon, with Türkiye’s support.
