Nearly 1000 hectares turned to ash in wildfire on Spanish-French border

A wildfire broke out at Portbou, near the border between Spain and France, and almost 1000 hectares of forest in the Pyrenees Mountain Range were reduced to ash. While 300 people were evacuated in France, roads connecting the two countries were closed and train services were halted as a result of the fire.

In addition, there were frequent forest fires in Spain and France last summer due to severe drought.
