Nemrut Caldera Photographed Under Stars

Dr. Faculty Member Cihan Önen, who has been observing space and nature for many years, photographed the stars and the lakes in Nemrut in Adıyaman province of Türkiye with the long exposure technique.

“The Nemrut Caldera is a natural wonder with its large and small lakes in green and blue tones, lush forests and fascinating geological structure. It is possible to see the clarity of the sky and the magnificence of the stars with the naked eye. At night, the stars that shine above these natural beauties reflect the harmony between the sky and the earth, offering a unique view. Bitlis is a place with little light pollution and a clear sky. It offers the opportunity to observe the Milky Way Galaxy and hundreds of stars with the naked eye. When a telescope is acquired, we can also see the galaxies and nebulae in the depths of space,” said Önen.
