Nepal Protest Death Toll Rises to 51

Violent protests in Nepal over last week’s social media ban have left 51 dead, including nine prisoners and three police officers, according to police. More than 13,000 inmates escaped during the unrest, with most still at large.

The army said over 100 weapons were recovered after protesters looted arms. Demonstrators also torched parliament, government buildings, and a Hilton hotel.

The government has since lifted the ban on 26 platforms, but both Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli and Interior Minister Ramesh Lekhak resigned amid the crisis.
