A rapidly spreading wildfire near Reno, Nevada, has scorched roughly 61,000 acres and injured at least six people, including three aid workers. As the blaze destroys structures and leaves thousands without power, authorities have issued urgent evacuation orders and warnings to 87,000 residents. A state of emergency has been declared, allowing the National Guard to assist the 800 firefighters battling flames fueled by erratic winds. Highlighting the extreme danger of the fast-moving disaster, local Sheriff Darin Balaam pleaded with residents, “If you can, please leave the area immediately.”
