Firas Abiad, Lebanon’s caretaker Health Minister, warned on Thursday against the remarkable daily increase in the number of COVID-19 cases over the past week, urging citizens to take serious precautions to avoid infection. According to Abiad, the recent increase in COVID-19 cases was clearly due to the arrival of many expatriates during the holiday season, as well as an increase in gatherings during this time.
“The number of reported cases is increasing, and this is not limited to Lebanon. We are also seeing an increase in cases throughout the world, particularly in neighboring countries,” Abiad said.
