New Homes Bring Hope in Earthquake-Hit Hatay, Türkiye

In Hatay, Türkiye, where recovery from last year’s devastating earthquake is underway, the government aims to deliver 44,227 new homes and workplaces to residents by year’s end. The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization has spearheaded efforts to build disaster-resilient housing, already handing over 25,916 units. By the end of 2025, an additional 146,479 residences and 11,721 workplaces are planned for delivery.

Residents in Gülderen Neighborhood, Antakya, where a new living center has been established, are expressing gratitude for their new homes. Cuma Önal, a 55-year-old local, said, “We didn’t expect such a beautiful home; we’re grateful.” Another resident, Aysel Önal, added, “Though we lost much, our new home resembles the one we lost.
