New smuggling tunnel found on US-Mexico border

A new 242-metre-long smuggling tunnel found on the US-Mexico border, the Mexican Attorney General’s Office announced. The tunnel connects Tijuana, Mexico, with San Diego, USA. It was stated that the tunnel was built to be used by drug gangs, and that it contains a rail transportation line, electric lighting and ventilation system.

According to police reports, the tunnel was discovered after tracking a suspect who opened fire on security forces during a routine patrol. An investigation was launched to identify those who built and used the tunnel.
