newborn Van cats of the year in Turkish Research Centre

Efforts to maintain the van cat population, which is a breed indigenous to Türkiye, continue in the Research and Application Center. Since the beginning of the year, eleven kittens from three mothers have opened their eyes to the world in the center.

The distinctive cats, which are known for their friendliness, white and silky fur, fluffy tail, different colored eyes, and fondness for water, also have worldwide fame.

“Stray cats synchronize their births with seasonal temperatures. Since these cats are not in their natural environment, their living space is always warm. So, our cats come into heat much earlier. The cats in our center do not depend on the season. Therefore, we can see synchronized birth in every month of the year,” said Prof. Dr. Abdullah Kaya.
