North Korea Cuts Off Transport Links with South Korea

North Korea has severed all land and rail connections with South Korea, citing military provocations and a challenging security environment. The North Korean army destroyed a 60-meter section of roads and railways leading to South Korea. North Korea’s constitution now clearly defines South Korea as an “enemy state,” and the move was described as a necessary and legitimate response to political and military tensions. Despite the explosions, North Korea claimed there was no environmental damage. The US has urged North Korea to de-escalate and return to diplomatic talks.
