Notre-Dame Cathedral Set to Reopen on Dec. 8

Five years have passed since the tragic fire that engulfed Paris’ iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral on April 15, 2019. Philippe Jost, President of Rebatir Notre-Dame de Paris overseeing the cathedral’s reconstruction, announced plans to reopen the historical landmark to visitors starting December 8. Jost highlighted the progress made within the set timeframe and budget, with over 250 companies and numerous artists, architects, and experts contributing to the restoration efforts since 2022.

The fire, which razed the cathedral’s roof and tower, sparked a fundraising campaign that amassed 846 million euros for the repairs. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
