Nowruz, the traditional Persian New Year, has begun in Azerbaijan with great enthusiasm and a range of cultural activities. As part of the Nowruz celebrations, various events were held at the Atesgah Shrine, a historical temple located 30 kilometers from the capital city of Baku. The festival is known as the harbinger of spring, and is celebrated with national music and dance performances showcasing Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage.
A public holiday was declared between 20-24 March as part of the “Nowruz Festival” in Azerbaijan. Various events and celebrations will be held throughout the country throughout the week.
