NYPD Steps Up Ramadan Security in New York

 

The New York Police Department held a meeting in New York City, United States, with mosque leaders and Islamic community representatives to discuss security measures for Ramadan. Senior police officials said the goal is to ensure Muslims can worship safely and peacefully during the holy month, as mosque attendance increases.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said protecting religious freedom and community solidarity is a priority. Police officials also stressed zero tolerance for hate crimes and said additional officers will be deployed around mosques and religious centers during Ramadan.
