Around 15,000 tons of oil spilled at the sea from a power plant in Banya, Syria have reached the coasts of Cyprus and Hatay, Turkey. The oil spills at coastal Hatay caused an environmental disaster as it affected green sea turtles and other animals on the beach. Dead green sea turtles covered in oil were observed across the coast.
