Meanwhile, authorities reported that two police officers whose vehicles were swept away by floods last night in Shinjo city in Yamagata prefecture and a person who was in the area where a landslide occurred in Akita city in Akita prefecture have disappeared.
Heavy rainfall led to floods, landslides and overflows in various areas in Japan’s Yamagata and Akita prefectures and authorities called for evacuations for people living in risky areas.
