Opposition Ends Orban’s 16-Year Rule in Hungary

In a historic parliamentary election in Budapest, Hungary, the opposition Tisza party, led by Peter Magyar, has defeated long-time Prime Minister Viktor Orban. With 85% of the votes counted and a remarkable 78% voter turnout, Tisza is projected to secure a two-thirds majority by winning 138 of the 199 parliamentary seats. This decisive victory officially marks the end of Orban’s 16-year governance over the European Union and NATO member state. Addressing a jubilant crowd in the capital, incoming Prime Minister Magyar declared the win a triumph for democracy and promised that Hungary will continue to be a strong, reliable Western ally.
