Opposition parties in Albania organized an anti-government demonstration in front of the Prime Minister’s Office on the Boulevard of the Martyrs of the Nation in the capital Tirana yesterday, with the participation of thousands of people.
The Democratic Party leader, Sali Berisha, said in his speech at the demonstration that Albania is in a state of emergency and that change will happen quickly. Albanians will be saved from poverty, farmers will receive the subsidies they deserve, and the corrupted system will be replaced by a system where the interests of the citizens are at the center, he explained.
Three police officers who were injured by the sound bombs thrown at the prime minister’s office during the demonstration were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The protesters stated that the protests will continue and that they will continue to criticize the government’s policies.
