Ottoman Empire’s Taraklı Houses Take History Lovers on Historical Journey

The detached houses reflecting the architecture of the Ottoman period in the Taraklı district of Sakarya province of Türkiye take history-loving visitors on a historical journey.

“Taraklı is a very old settlement. It is one of the first settlements conquered by Osman Bey, the founder of the Ottoman Empire, between 1289-1291. Therefore, Taraklı is the founding land of the Ottoman Empire. The old Taraklı houses, which are 200-300 years old, are still standing in our district. Some of them have been restored and many others are waiting to be restored,” said Alaattin Yılmaz.

The district was awarded the ‘Best Tourism Rural Settlements and Villages Initiative’ award by the United Nations World Tourism Organization in 2021.
