Over 100-year old tortoise becomes attraction in Peru’s park

Sanson, an over 100-year old gigantic tortoise from the Galapagos Islands, has become an attraction of the Legends Park in the city of Lima. Sanson arrived in Peru in the 1960s. It weighs about 220 kg, which is normal for its species from the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador.

The Galapagos Islands, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a renown National Park, was believed to inspire Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection following his visit in 1835.
