Over 2,000 Prisoners Escape in Sierra Leone

 

An armed raid in Sierra Leone’s capital, Freetown, resulted in over 2,000 prisoners escaping from barracks and prisons. The government labeled the attacks as coordinated and launched a search operation. Rewards of $2,000 for information on attackers and $1,000 for escaped prisoners were announced. A nationwide nighttime curfew remains in place as authorities work to address the situation.
