Over 60 Detained in Uganda Anti-Corruption Protests

In Uganda, police detained at least 60 people during anti-corruption protests in Kampala. Demonstrators, defying a ban, marched to the parliament, denouncing high-level corruption and labeling parliament members as an “army of thieves.” Security forces blocked access to the parliament and erected barricades. Uganda Bar Association President Bernard Oundo criticized the swift arrests and court proceedings, pledging to seek justice for those detained. Recently, the UK and the USA imposed sanctions on Ugandan officials, including Parliament Speaker Anita Among, due to corruption allegations.
