Over 650,000 Protest in Philippines Over Flood Control Corruption Scandal

More than 650,000 people marched in Manila after allegations of large-scale corruption in the Philippines’ flood control projects. Demonstrators, led by the Iglesia Ni Cristo Church, accused the government of protecting those involved and demanded a “genuine investigation.”

The scandal intensified after an internal audit ordered by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. revealed major irregularities, including officials and contractors allegedly profiting from unfinished or non-existent projects. Marcos has vowed to prosecute those responsible. Protests are set to continue through tomorrow.
