The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East announced that more than 87,000 children have been given their first dose of polio vaccine in the vaccination campaign launched after a polio case was detected in Gaza.
The campaign aims to vaccinate 640,000 children in the second round, which will start on September 17.
Israel agreed on Thursday to suspend operations in certain areas of Gaza for 8 hours a day for 3 days so that at least 2,700 health workers can vaccinate at least 90 percent of children up to the age of 10.
