Pakistan’s Interior Minister Talal Chaudhry said Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes on seven targets in eastern Afghanistan, killing at least 70 militants linked to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and ISIS-K. He said the strikes were intelligence-based and claimed most of those killed were Pakistani nationals.
Afghan authorities said 25 people, mostly civilians, were killed in the provinces of Nangarhar and Paktika, accusing Pakistan of targeting civilian areas. Kabul condemned the strikes as a violation of sovereignty and said it would respond “at the appropriate time.”
