pakistanis flock gas stations ahead of price hike

People in Pakistan flocked to gas stations after the government announced that fuel prices would rise by 30 Pakistani rupees starting last night. Thousands of people waited in long lines at gas stations in many cities across the country to buy fuel before the price increase, while fights between drivers erupted on occasion.

Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Miftah Ismail, stated that the new government is facing economic challenges after taking over the administration from former PM Imran Khan. The new government has asked the IMF to expand its loan program and raise another $2 billion in funding to help alleviate difficulties in financing, Ismail added.
