Pakistan’s Supreme Election Commission has imposed a political ban on former Prime Minister Imran Khan for illegally selling official gifts from foreign leaders and representatives. Under the resolution passed unanimously by the election commission, Khan was found guilty of “corrupt practices”. Imran Khan, who was barred from the National Assembly, will not be able to hold any public position for 5 years.
Imran Khan’s Pakistani Justice Movement (PTI) party said in a statement that the decision would be appealed to the Islamabad High Court, and party supporters were called to take to the streets.
